The Ventura County 99s and First Robotics have partnered with NBVC to create a dedicated STEM Pavilion at the Point Mugu Airshow on the School Field Trip, Friends & Family Day on March 17. The STEM Pavilion is a place where kids and their families can explore, play and have fun while learning about exciting careers, cutting edge technologies and educational programs to inspire our area‘s youth. Aviation, Aerospace and STEM professionals, companies and educators are invited to register to have an information booth, hands-on activity or display. No sales are allowed in this area.

Our guest will be Judy Phelps, Master Certified Flight Instructor-Aerobatic, CFI – Instrument, specializing in Tailwheel, Spins, Emergency Maneuver Training and Aerobatics. She is the 2011 National Flight Instructor of the Year, the 2010 Western Pacific Region FAA Flight Instructor of the year, the 2008 Professional Woman Pilot of the Year by the Southwest Section of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots, and the 2006 Woman Pilot of the Year by the Ventura County Chapter of the Ninety-Nines. She is also a charter member of the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE). Judy’s career in aviation started in 1994 when she met and married Clay Phelps, the CP of CP Aviation. In 2003 she became a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). In 2021, she became a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE). She will be sharing all things DPE at this discussion.

Dr. Susan Ying, Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships for Ampaire, will be providing a private tour of Ampaire‘s hangar in Camarillo!

Electric aviation is in its infancy. Ampaire flew the first hybrid-electric test platform in 2019 (The Electric EEL), using both electric and traditional powertrains. The knowledge and experience they gain daily place Amapire on the cutting edge of the industry.
