Ventura County 99s Pilot Proficiency Classes

2020 was our 20th year of providing an annual series of between 18-25  Pilot Proficiency Classes for the aviation community. These classes are geared towards increasing pilot proficiency and open to all pilots, student pilots and instructors. We bring in highly experienced instructors from all over the country and the income generated from the classes supports chapter outreach activities and aviation scholarships. Since we began these seminars in 2001, over 3,000 pilots, student pilots and flight instructors attended one or more classes.

Our 2020 Pilot Proficiency Classes began on February 5th. On March 12th, 5 weeks into the 2020 series of Pilot Proficiency classes, Governor Newsom issued an executive order declaring a State of Emergency in California due to the threat of Covid-19.and restricting attendance at public gatherings. In compliance with the State of Emergency Executive Order and concern for the safety and health of our volunteers and attendees, we cancelled the remaining 2020 classes. We do not know when we will be able to resume in person classes, and will continue to monitor the Coronavirus situation. We incur thousands of dollars in expenses to sponsor these classes and need to be confident we can safely hold classes before resuming in person events.  Since March 2020 we have offered several Zoom webinars and will continue to do so.
